When to go
Oman has two seasons that matter and they run opposite to each other. The cool season, roughly October to April, is when the whole north is comfortable. Khareef, roughly late June to early September, is the monsoon that turns Dhofar green while the rest of the country is at its hottest.

The two exceptions that flip the rule
Khareef. While the north of Oman is at its hottest from June to September, Dhofar around Salalah turns green under monsoon drizzle. It is the busiest time of the year there and the quietest everywhere else.
Turtle nesting. Green turtles nest most heavily on the Sharqiyah coast in summer, in the peak heat. That is the other exception to the cool-season rule.
