Terms of Service
The terms for using Open the UAE: what we promise travellers, what operators agree to when they claim a listing, and the limits of our liability for third-party information.
Last updated: 2026-09-02
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using opentheuae.com (the "Service") you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. The Service
Open the UAE is a travel guide to places in United Arab Emirates and a directory of tour operators, desert camps, dive centres, boat outfits and vehicle-rental companies. Travellers may browse and send booking requests without an account. Operators may claim their listing; some operator features (editing, the WhatsApp button, featured placement) require a free account and, in some cases, an active paid subscription.
3. Booking requests
- A request is an enquiry relayed to the operator; it is not a confirmed booking and no payment is taken by Open the UAE. The operator confirms availability and price with you directly.
- Any contract for a tour, stay or rental is between you and the operator. Open the UAE is not a party to it and is not a travel agency.
4. Accuracy
Place facts are compiled from open data and editor checks and are labelled with their source. Facts marked "unconfirmed" have not been verified. Conditions, fees, access and safety change — verify locally before you travel. Wadis flood, tracks close, tides turn: you are responsible for your own safety.
5. Operator accounts and claims
- You must be at least 18 to create an account and the legitimate owner or an authorised representative to claim a listing. We verify authorisation (for example by a code sent to the contact details already on the listing) before approving a claim.
- Content you submit must be accurate, your own or used with permission, lawful, and free of misleading material. You grant Open the UAE a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host and display it as part of the Service. We may moderate or remove content to maintain quality.
6. Subscriptions and billing
- Plans, prices and renewal frequency are shown at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe; by subscribing you accept Stripe's terms and authorise recurring charges.
- Subscriptions renew until cancelled. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not refund the current period.
- If a payment fails we may suspend paid features after a short grace period.
7. Acceptable use
- Do not misrepresent your identity or impersonate another operator.
- Do not post unlawful, defamatory, deceptive or harassing content.
- Do not interfere with the Service, bypass security, scrape at unreasonable rates or reverse-engineer our systems.
8. Intellectual property and open data
The Service design, source code and compilations are owned by Open the UAE. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL); place facts draw on Wikidata (CC0) and Overture Maps; photographs carry their own author and licence, shown beside each image. Operator names and logos belong to their owners.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, the accuracy of every listing, or any business outcome.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Open the UAE is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including anything arising from a trip, activity or transaction with an operator. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding it.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of United Arab Emirates. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Muscat unless mandatory consumer-protection law provides otherwise.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes update the date above and, where appropriate, account holders are notified by e-mail. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
